The "Turn off display" option does not work correctly on a Tablet PC that is running Windows Vista if you set a programmable button that is associated with the "Press and hold" list

On a Tablet PC that is running Windows Vista, if you set a programmable button that is associated with the Press and hold list to turn off your display, the Turn off display option does not work correctly. You expect the display to turn off until user input or a wake event wakes the computer. However, the display turns off only briefly.

Hotfix information

After you install the hotfix, the Turn off display option is removed from the Press and hold list. A supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.
