If you uninstall your default browser, Windows Live Photo Gallery may not publish images to online photo-sharing Web sites

SYMPTOMS

If you uninstall your default browser, you may encounter the following error message when you try to publish an image to an online photo-sharing Web site, such as Flickr:
The authorization process was not completed. Please try again

CAUSE

This issue occurs when the default browser is uninstalled and a new default browser has not been registered.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, make sure that a browser is installed and a default browser is selected. To select the default browser, follow these steps:
  • Windows XP
    1. Click Start, and then click Set Program Access and Defaults.
    2. In the Add or Remove Programs dialog box, select the configuration that applies to your situation:
      • Microsoft Windows: Select this option if you are selecting a Microsoft browser as your default browser.
      • Non-Microsoft: Select this option if you are selecting a non-Microsoft browser as your default browser.
    3. Select the browser program that you want to set as the default in the drop-down window, and then click OK.
  • Windows Vista
    1. Click Start

      If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Continue.
    2. Click Set Your Default Programs.
    3. In the Program List select the browser program that you want to use as your default browser.
    4. Click Set this program as default, and then click OK.
