Recognizer training is not triggered in the Windows Vista handwriting recognition personalization tool after you enter 50 sentences

Expand all | Collapse all

SYMPTOMS

After you enter 50 sentences from the first phrase set in the Windows Vista handwriting recognition personalization tool, recognizer training is not triggered. A few seconds after you click Update and exit, you receive the following message:
Recognizer updated
When this message is displayed after only a few seconds, it indicates that recognizer training did not occur. Typically, 50 sentences should trigger recognizer training.

Note Recognizer training usually takes several minutes to complete.

CAUSE

This problem may occur because of individual writing styles in which fewer pieces of ink are submitted for the same set of sentences. Fewer pieces of ink are submitted because of segmentation issues. The final set does not make the threshold.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, submit at least 10 more sentences.

Note Sometimes words are spaced too closely together. Therefore, there are not enough training samples. To correct this problem and to improve overall accuracy, submit several more sentences.
