The Manage-bde.wsf script does not display non-English characters on a computer that is running the English version of Windows Vista

On a computer that is running the English version of Windows Vista, the Manage-bde.wsf script does not display non-English characters in the output in the Command Prompt window.

To resolve this problem, you must change the computer's locale setting to the locale that supports the language that you want to output in the Command Prompt window. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Click Start, click Control Panel, and then double-click Regional and Language Options.
2. Click the Administrative tab, and then click Change system locale under Language for non-Unicode programs.
3. Select the locale in which you want the Manage-bde.wsf script to display non-English characters, and then click OK.
   
   Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
4. Restart the computer when you are prompted to do this.

This behavior is by design.
