On This PageSYMPTOMSWhen you run a script to perform a Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI) query for TCP/IP ports on a computer that is running a non-English version of Windows Vista, the query results may be empty. This issue occurs even if TCP/IP ports are installed on the computer. The issue causes the script to be unable to detect the installed TCP/IP ports. Additionally, you may encounter some function failure. For example, you may be unable to install a printer by using a script that resembles the following script to install a printer: CAUSEThe issue occurs because of an error in the Tcpmon.dll module. This module incorrectly performs a string comparison. RESOLUTIONHotfix informationA supported hotfix is available from Microsoft. However, this hotfix is intended to correct only the problem that is described in this article. Apply this hotfix only to systems that are experiencing this specific problem. This hotfix might receive additional testing. Therefore, if you are not severely affected by this problem, we recommend that you wait for the next software update that contains this hotfix.If the hotfix is available for download, there is a "Hotfix download available" section at the top of this Knowledge Base article.
