You receive error messages when you use a computer that is running Windows Vista to remotely install a printer driver on a computer that is acting as a print server

Consider the following scenario. You use a computer that is running a 32-bit edition of Windows Vista to remotely install a printer driver on a 64-bit computer that is acting as a print server. Or, you use a computer that is running a 64-bit edition of Windows Vista to remotely install a printer driver on a 32-bit computer that is acting as a print server. In this scenario, you receive one or more of the following error messages:

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. Make sure that the computer that is running Windows Vista contains a copy of the printer driver for the same processor architecture as the print server.
   
   For example, to successfully install a 32-bit printer driver on a 64-bit print server, you must first install a 64-bit printer driver. To successfully install a 64-bit printer driver on a 32-bit print server, you must first install a 32-bit printer driver.
2. On the computer that is running Windows Vista, install all the printer drivers. This includes the different processor architecture printer drivers (32-bit and 64-bit) that you want to remotely install on the print server.
   
   You can install additional printer drivers on the computer that is running Windows Vista by using the Add Printer Driver Wizard. The print spooler tracks the information about the installed printer drivers. Then, the print spooler uses the information to successfully install the required printer driver during the remote installation.
3. Remotely install the printer driver on the computer that is acting as the print server.
   
   The print spooler resolves all the driver dependencies. Additionally, the print spooler makes sure that the printer driver is successfully installed on the print server.
