SYMPTOMSYou install Windows Vista Service Pack 1 (SP1) on a computer that is running the release version of Windows Vista. When you uninstall Windows Vista SP1, an exclamation point (!) on a yellow field appears next to a WAN Miniport (SSTP) network adapter or next to a WAN Miniport (NDISWANBH) network adapter in Device Manager. When you view the properties of the device, you receive the following error message: Error code 39. CAUSEThis problem occurs because SSTP network adapters and NDISWANBH network adapters are not supported in the release version of Windows Vista. The devices should not be displayed in Device Manager. WORKAROUNDTo work around this problem, you can safely ignore this message in the release version of Windows Vista. The error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section does not affect the uninstallation and reinstallation of Windows Vista SP1. SSTP devices and NDISWANBH devices continue to function correctly when you reinstall Windows Vista SP1.
