Error message when you try to publish a movie to a DVD by using Windows DVD Maker in Windows Vista: "Unspecified error"

SYMPTOMS

When you try to publish a movie to a DVD in Windows DVD Maker on a Windows Vista-based computer, you receive the following error message:
Add Items
0 files were successfully added.
1 file could not be added.
Unspecified error.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if the following conditions are true:
  • The movie that you are trying to publish to a DVD has transitions.
  • The computer's video card uses one of following integrated graphics chipsets:
    • Intel 945 Express Chipset family
    • Intel 965 Express Chipset family

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, do not use transitions in the movie. Or, install Windows Vista Service Pack 1. For more information about Windows Vista Service Pack 1, click the following article number to view the article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:
