On This PageSYMPTOMSYou may be unable to install a program that tries to register extensions under the IQueryForm registry entry in Windows Server 2008 or in Windows Vista. Or, the installation may be completed, and the program may not work as expected. Note A program that will use the IQueryForm interface must register extensions under the following registry subkey: HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{8A23E65E-31C2-11d0-891C-00A024AB2DBB}\Forms For more information, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677262(VS.85).aspx
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms677262(VS.85).aspx)
For example, assume that a program tries to register its Class ID for Active Directory Users and Computers search extension. In this case, you receive an "Access Denied" error in the program log.Note The exact error message that is reported by the program log varies, depending on the specific program. CAUSEThis issue occurs because the Forms registry key is protected by the Windows Resource Protection (WRP) feature. The Administrators group does not have permissions to modify the Forms registry key. By default, only the TrustedInstaller has Full Control permissions to this registry key in Windows Vista and in Windows Server 2008.
