SYMPTOMS

If you use the Copy Web command to add a Web to an existing Web, any files in the destination Web with the same name as files in the Web being copied will be replaced.

WORKAROUND

To prevent files from being overwritten, change any duplicate file names in the Web being copied before you use the Copy Web command.

MORE INFORMATION

Use the following steps to change the file name of a page in FrontPage Explorer:

  1. In Link View or Summary View, find the page you want to change.
  2. Right-click the page you want to change, and click Properties on the menu that appears.
  3. Click the General tab. In the Page URL box, type the new name. Click OK.
You may receive the warning message "There are <number of pages> pages that have links to this page. Do you want to update these pages so that the links will not be broken?" If you want to automatically change the links, click Yes.
