When you install Publisher 97 on Windows 95, you may see the following
message:
Setup is updating your system. This may take several minutes...
This message may be displayed for only seconds or for a long period of time. Also, the pie slice may become very slow, giving the impression that Setup has stopped, or that your computer has stopped responding. CAUSE
During the "updating your system" phase, Publisher 97 Setup adds many
fonts to your computer; these fonts must be registered with the Windows
95 operating system. The extended Setup time occurs as a result of the
way Windows 95 handles this process coupled with the large number of
fonts that need to be registered.
WORKAROUND
DO NOT restart your computer or interrupt the Setup process. If you
wait long enough, Setup will continue and will be completed
successfully.
To decrease Setup time, use the following steps:
The portion of Setup in which the fonts are installed will probably take a long time regardless of install fonts separately or as part of your original installation. STATUS
Microsoft is researching this problem and will post new information
in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
