CG3: Sound Recorder Needed to Add .wav Files to Clip Gallery

SYMPTOMS

If you try to import a .wav file into Microsoft Clip Gallery 3.0, you may receive the following error message:
Unable to import file type "<your drive:\path\filename>"

CAUSE

This error is generated if you do not have a program, such as Sound Recorder or Media Player, that can play a .wav file.

RESOLUTION

  1. Quit all programs that are running.
  2. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  3. Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
  4. Click the Windows Setup tab.
  5. Click Multimedia in the Components list. Click the Details button.
  6. Click to select the Media Player and/or Sound Recorder check boxes.
  7. Click OK in the Multimedia dialog box.
  8. Click OK in the Add/Remove Programs Properties dialog box.
  9. Follow the prompts on the screen.
