When you run the Microsoft Office 97 Setup program in maintenance mode and
click Remove All, Setup may remove the Inbox icon from the desktop.
CAUSE
This behavior occurs when the following conditions are met:

To prevent Setup from removing the Inbox icon from the desktop, use one of
the following methods:

When you run the Microsoft Office 97 Setup program in maintenance mode, and
you click Remove All, one or more dialog boxes that contain the following
message may appear:
Remove Shared Component <Shared component> is a shared component, and there may be other applications using it. If you are sure you want to remove it, click the Remove button. Otherwise, click the Keep button. If you want to remove all shared components, click the Remove All button. If you do not want to remove any of shared components, click the Remove None button. where <Shared component> is the name of a shared Office program. The dialog boxes will contain four buttons: Keep, Remove, Remove None, and Remove All. When you click Remove All, or when you click Remove when <Shared component> is "Windows Messaging", the Setup program removes all files that are related to the Windows Messaging client.
