SYMPTOMS

If you point to Movies and Sounds on the Insert menu and then click Play CD Audio Track, the Start and End tracks may both be set to 1. You can manually adjust these numbers to be anything up to 100, regardless of how many tracks there are on your compact disc.

CAUSE

This symptom occurs if there is no audio compact disc in your CD-ROM drive, or if there is a compact disc in the drive and the Windows 95 CD Player program is running in the background.

The symptom does not occur if the Windows NT 4.0 CD Player is running in the background. In this case, the Start track is set to 1 and the End track is set to the last track on the audio compact disc.

RESOLUTION

Before you use the Play CD Audio Track command, make sure that:

  1. There is an audio compact disc in your CD-ROM drive
  2. The Windows 95 CD Player program is not running.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft PowerPoint 97 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Windows 95
