You can use Microsoft Internet News to read bulletin board discussion
groups (such as Usenet newsgroups) by using Network News Transport Protocol
(NNTP)-based news servers. This article describes how to configure Internet
News for Macintosh.

The Network News Transport Protocol is an Internet standard that is
designed to provide access to the news article database on a network server
for "reader" clients (such as Internet News). This standard provides the
means for the interactive server-to-server article transfer over the
Internet.
Running the Internet News client requires that you have an existing news server. If you do not know which news server you should use, contact your Internet service provider. The first time you run Microsoft Internet News, you are prompted for the following information:
