This article describes how to restore a Microsoft Windows 95 registry that was
created before you installed Microsoft Internet Explorer, or how to use a
Microsoft Windows NT Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) that was created before you

Restoring an older Windows 95 registry, or using an older ERD to repair
a Windows NT installation, is a troubleshooting step that is frequently
used to troubleshoot Windows 95 or Windows NT 4.0 problems. However, if
you have installed Internet Explorer 4.0 on your computer, you must
uninstall Internet Explorer 4.0 before you restore an older registry or
use an older ERD.
