SYMPTOMS

When you view the image properties for an image which is not in the GIF or JPEG format, neither the GIF nor the JPEG options under Type in the Image Properties dialog box are selected. To locate these options, right-click the image, and then click Properties on the menu that appears.

NOTE: Clicking either the JPEG or GIF option in the Image Properties dialog box, does not change the format of the image.

CAUSE

The Image Properties dialog box is not updated until you save the Web page and the image is converted to GIF or JPEG format.

RESOLUTION

Save the page in FrontPage Editor. When you save the page, the non-GIF and non-JPEG images are converted to GIF or JPEG format.

MORE INFORMATION

When you save a Web page in FrontPage Editor, the images will be saved to GIF or JPEG format depending on the number of colors in the image. If the image is transparent or is simple and has few colors, it will be converted to GIF format. If the image is a true color or complex image with anti- aliasing, it will be converted to JPEG format.
