ACC97: Can't Run SETUP.EXE /y /r on NTFS

SYMPTOMS

When running Microsoft Office 97 for Windows with the command line "setup.exe /y /r" (without the quotation marks) as a power user on an installation that exists under Windows NT 4.0 on an NTFS partition after customizing the STF file to bypass the Admin check, Setup fails to complete successfully and you receive an error.

CAUSE

AccWiz.dll requires KEY_ALL_ACCESS, which causes the setup.exe /y /r to fail.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, obtain Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Access 97. This problem was corrected in Microsoft Office 97 Service Release 2 (SR-2).
