Downloaded Messages Marked As Read

If you select all the messages in the News Message window and then click Mark As Read on the Message menu, all other downloaded messages are also marked as read.

Note that if the Show Unread Only option is turned on, message headers seem to be downloading, but are not displayed on the screen.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps:

1. On the Edit menu, click Select All.
2. On the Message menu, click Mark As Unread to undo the Mark As Read changes.

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Internet Mail and News version 3.0a for Macintosh. We are researching this problem and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
