Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
SYMPTOMS
When you run a Publisher PageWizard Design Assistant or attempt to insert
a WordArt object in a Publisher file, you receive the following error
message:
Publisher cannot launch or communicate with the OLE server
program needed to complete this task.
CAUSE
The Office 97 programs include a set of special text effects referred to
as WordArt. These WordArt text effects are different from the objects
created by the WordArt program that ships with Microsoft Publisher and
earlier versions of Microsoft Office.
Publisher uses a Registry key to locate the WordArt program file (Wordart32.exe). If that key is missing, or contains the wrong path, then you will not be able to insert WordArt into Publisher. RESOLUTIONWARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.
