SYMPTOMS

When you view a shell folder in Internet Explorer 4.0 and then click the Address box to load a Web page in your history, your namespace appears in the Address box instead of a list of your most recently visited Web pages.

RESOLUTION

To work around this behavior, load a Web page by typing a valid Web address in the Address box. Once the Web page is loaded, your most recently visited Web pages appear when you click the Address box.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.

MORE INFORMATION

A shell folder is a resource on your local hard disk or local area network (LAN) that can be accessed using the "File:" protocol (for example, "file://c:\windows" or "file://\\<path>\webpage.htm," where <path> is the full universal naming convention (UNC) path to the Webpage.htm file). When you view a shell folder in Internet Explorer 4.0, your namespace appears in the Address box instead of a list of your most recently visited Web pages.
