The glossary section of the Proxy Server version 2.0 documentation
incorrectly states that the Microsoft Proxy 2.0 SOCKS service has
the capability to act as a client to an upstream SOCKS server.
Excerpt from the documentation: SOCKS A standard that provides a secure proxy data channel from a client computer to the Proxy Server computer. After the connection is established, SOCKS transfers data between the client and the server. SOCKS is a cross-platform, open version of the WinSock Proxy service. Proxy Server can act as a SOCKS client to an upstream SOCKS server, or Proxy Server can be a SOCKS server to a client computer with SOCKS software on it. Proxy Server 2.0 supports SOCKS version 4. MORE INFORMATION
This SOCKS "upstream chaining" feature does not exist in Proxy
Server 2.0. Proxy Server 2.0 can not act as a SOCKS client to an
upstream SOCKS server.
