Web Proxy Service Supports Passive Mode FTP Connections

The Web Proxy service in Proxy Server 2.0 supports passive mode FTP connections. The registry entry explained below will force the Proxy Server to use passive mode FTP for all FTP connections through the Web Proxy service.

NOTE: If you change this registry entry, it may cause connection failures to FTP sites that do not allow passive mode connections.

1. Start the Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe) and locate the following registry subkey in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE subtree:

         /SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Services/W3Proxy/Parameters
   						

2. Find the NonPassiveFTPTransfer registry entry (REG_DWORD).
3. Change the value to 0 (Use passive mode); Default Value=1 (Use non-passive mode).
4. Click OK and quit the Registry Editor.
5. Shut down and restart Windows NT.
