OFF98: WindowShade Does Not Work with Microsoft Office Assistant

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the title bar of the Office Assistant window to collapse the Office Assistant, the Office Assistant remains visible.

CAUSE

This problem occurs when the following conditions are true:
  • You are using the WindowShade feature that is provided by the Macintosh operating system (OS). -and-

  • You are running Macintosh operating system version 7.5.x or 7.6.x.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, close the Office Assistant by clicking the upper-left corner of the window.

WindowShade is a Control Panel device that allows you to collapse windows and display only the title bars of windows.

WindowShade provides three configurations: Off, two clicks, or three clicks. WindowShade also provides four modifier settings: Command, Option, Control, and No Modifier.

If the Office Assistant window is visible on the screen, WindowShade does not collapse the window.
