FP98: Table is Locked Error Previewing Page With Database Region

SYMPTOMS

When you open an Active Server Page (ASP) that contains a database region in a Web browser, you may receive the following error message:
Database Error: [Microsoft][ODBC Microsoft Access 97 Driver] Table
'TableName'is exclusively locked by user 'Admin' on machine 'MyMachine.'
The wording of the message may vary depending on how you have set up your data source.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs when the table you are querying is open in Design view in Microsoft Access.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this behavior, switch to Microsoft Access and follow these steps:
  1. On the View menu, click Datasheet View.
  2. If you are asked to save the table, click Yes.
  3. Switch to the browser and refresh the ASP page.
