SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to save your PowerPoint 98 presentation in PowerPoint 4.0 or PowerPoint 3.0 format, you may receive the following error message:

PowerPoint cannot create PowerPoint temp 0.

Sorry, PowerPoint Temp is not a PowerPoint Presentation.

This behavior occurs if PowerPoint is not able to create the temporary file required to save the presentation. This is the result of how the Macintosh Operating System Software, versions 7.5.2 and earlier, handle temporary files.

WORKAROUND

Upgrade the Macintosh Operating System Software to version 7.5.3 or later.
