FP98: Deleting Web in Root Directory Erases Drive Contents

When you delete a disk-based Web that was created on the root of a hard disk, such as the root of drive R, the entire contents of the disk drive is erased, including hidden, system, and read-only files.

FrontPage converts the root drive to a FrontPage Web.

Always create a disk-based Web in a subfolder of the root of the hard disk. To do this, follow these steps:

1. Start FrontPage Explorer.
2. On the File menu, click New FrontPage Web.
3. In the New FrontPage Web dialog box, select the type of Web you want to create.
4. Click Change.
5. In the Change Location dialog box, type the path for your FrontPage Web by using this syntax
   <x>:\<Webname>
   where <x> represents the disk drive where you want the FrontPage Web created and <Webname> is the subfolder.
6. Click OK.
7. Click OK.
8. If you are prompted to create the directory, click Yes.
9. If you are prompted to convert the folder to a FrontPage Web, click Yes.
