SYMPTOMS

When you send mail using Microsoft Outlook 98 as a client on Lotus Notes Domino 4.5 POP, mail that is formatted as Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) arrives at the recipient mailbox as a plain text message containing the HTML code.

CAUSE

This behavior is caused by a problem in message handling on the Lotus Notes 4.5 server. You can reproduce the same condition by using Outlook Express and Netscape Messenger as clients.

RESOLUTION

Lotus has confirmed this to be a problem in version 4.5 of the Notes server. This problem was corrected in the 4.6 version.
