OL98: Attachment Appears at Bottom of E-mail Message

SYMPTOMS

When you insert an attachment into an e-mail message, Microsoft Outlook may place the attachment in a separate pane at the bottom of the message rather than inline at the insertion point.

CAUSE

This behavior is by design when you use either HTML or Plain Text for your default e-mail format.

RESOLUTION

To place the attachment inline in the message, use either Microsoft Outlook Rich Text (RTF) or Microsoft Word as your default e-mail format.

To Change Your Default E-mail Format

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Mail Format tab, under Message format, click to select the default format you want in the "Send in this message format" list.
The location of attachments in received e-mail messages depends upon the format of the incoming message.
