SYMPTOMS

When you press CTRL+ALT+DELETE at the "It's now safe to turn off your computer" screen, nothing happens.

CAUSE

Windows 98 incorporates Fast Shutdown functionality. Because of the nature of this functionality, keyboard interrupts are disabled during the shutdown process. As a result, pressing CTRL+ALT+DELETE does nothing.

RESOLUTION

To restart your computer, click Restart instead of Shut Down in the Shut Down Windows dialog box.
