SYMPTOMS

When you start Windows 98 Setup, you may receive the following error message:

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if you start Setup from a network resource whose Universal Naming Convention (UNC) path contains more than 240 characters.

RESOLUTION

Place the Windows 98 installation files in a folder whose UNC path contains no more than 240 characters.
