SYMPTOMS

After upgrading Microsoft Outlook 97 to Microsoft Outlook 98 Internet Mail Only (IMO), New WinFax (Pro) and New Fax Message is listed on the Actions menu.

RESOLUTION

Click to clear the Symantec WinFax Starter Edition extension in the Add-ins window.

MORE INFORMATION

To remove the additional menu item, "New Fax Message" from the Actions menu, follow these steps:
  1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab.
  2. Click Advanced Options and click Add-In Manager.
  3. In the Add-In Manager, click to clear "Symantec WinFax Starter Edition Extension" and click OK.
  4. Click OK and OK to close all remaining dialog boxes.
Installing or upgrading to Outlook 98 IMO will install Symantec WinFax Starter Edition without removing Symantec WinFax Pro. The functionality and menu items for Symantec WinFax Pro remain, but the menu item for creating a new fax with Symantec WinFax Starter Edition, remains on the Tools menu, causing confusion.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Outlook 98 Standard Edition
