Cannot View All DirectShow File Types in Windows Media Player

SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to open a DirectShow file using Microsoft Windows Media Player, some file types may be truncated in the Files Of Type box.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if there are more file types associated with DirectShow than can be displayed in the Files Of Type box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this problem in Microsoft Windows 98.

The file types associated with DirectShow can vary depending on other programs installed on your computer. By default, the following file types are associated with DirectShow:

  • .snd
  • .wav
