Windows NT Event 15179 (Could Not Set ACL) After Lost Network Connection

SYMPTOMS

If a network connection is lost during an ACL replication, the Publishing Service may report the following Windows NT Application Event error:
15179: Could not set the ACLS appropriately on file x. The default ACL (Administrators, Full Control) will be applied to the file.
Additional symptoms of this error may be file corruption, where the content of the original ACL and the file appear to be amalgamated.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Site Server version 3.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
