AV During File Upload Using Long Paths

SYMPTOMS

Posting Acceptor causes an access violation if the uploaded file name length exceeds MAX_PATH (256 characters). Posting Acceptor concatenates the destination directory of the v-root and the source path when it establishes the upload file path name.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, apply the latest Site Server 3.0 service pack.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Site Server version 3.0. This problem was corrected in the latest Microsoft Site Server version 3.0 U.S. Service Pack. For information on obtaining the service pack, query on the following word in the Microsoft Knowledge Base (without the spaces):
