Windows 98 Help indicates that you can drag Adobe Type 1 fonts to the Windows\Fonts folder to install them. The "To add a new font to your computer" Help topic states (in part):

For TrueType, Raster, or Adobe Type 1 fonts, you can also add the font by dragging the appropriate files to the Fonts folder. If you want to see the file extensions in Windows Explorer, click View, click Options, and then click the View tab. Click to clear the Hide file extensions for known file types check box. This works only for fonts that are not in the Fonts folder.

This information is incorrect.

You cannot drag Adobe Type 1 fonts to the Fonts folder, or use the Install New Font command, to install them. If you try to drag an Adobe Type 1 font to the Windows\Fonts folder, you receive the following error message:

<Filename> is an invalid font file

To install Adobe Type 1 fonts, use Adobe Type Manager.
