BUG: Editing MAP or ALIAS in the HTML Help Workshop Causes Error

SYMPTOMS

When you use the HTML Help Workshop to edit the [MAP] or [ALIAS] sections of an HTML Help project file, an application error might occur.

CAUSE

There are several scenarios which can cause the problem, such as inserting an [ALIAS] section without having a [MAP] section, or attempting to remove files from the [ALIAS] or [MAP] sections.

RESOLUTION

Use a text editor to edit these sections of the HTML Help project file.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
