SUMMARY

This article discusses how Microsoft FrontPage 98 integrates with Microsoft Visual SourceSafe.

MORE INFORMATION

FrontPage does not use or require the client software for Visual SourceSafe. Instead FrontPage was designed and intended to operate when the Visual SourceSafe database is on the same physical computer as the Web server. It is possible to set up Visual SourceSafe to operate when the database is on a different computer, however FrontPage is not designed to support this functionality.

FrontPage was designed and tested to integrate with Visual SourceSafe when you installed it following this procedure:
  1. Install Visual SourceSafe on the same computer as the Web server.
  2. Perform a custom installation add choose the Enable SourceSafe Integration option.
  3. Do not change any other options in the Custom Installation dialog box.
FrontPage support engineers can assist you in enabling SourceSafe integration only if you followed this procedure.
