SYMPTOMS

When you try to compress a removable-media drive, you may receive the following error message:
DriveSpace cannot work with <drive letter> because the drive was formatted using a non-standard sector length. (standard sector length is 512bytes)

CAUSE

This issue can occur because DriveSpace and DriveSpace 3 do not support compressing drives with a non-standard sector size. For example, a 640- megabyte (MB) magneto-optical disk can use a non-standard sector size of 2 kilobytes (KB).

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
