Computer Appears to Stop Responding During Windows 98 Setup

During Windows 98 Setup, your computer may appear to stop responding (hang).

This issue can occur if Microsoft Office 95 or Microsoft Office 97 is installed on your computer. Setup optimizes these files using the Winalign program, and on slower computers, this optimization may cause your computer to seem to hang or run slowly.

To resolve this issue, wait at least five minutes before you restart your computer. If no disk activity has occurred after five minutes or more, restart your computer.
