SYMPTOMS

During Windows 98 Setup, you may receive the following error message:

An error occurred calling DllInstall in C:\Windows\System\Shdocvw.dll (HRESULT=80004005)

This error message can occur if you installed Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.0 on your previous version of Windows and saved the Internet Explorer uninstall information. Windows 98 Setup attempts to register the uninstall information but cannot because Internet Explorer cannot be removed from Windows 98.
