Error Messages Switching Scanning Options in McAfee WebScanX

SYMPTOMS

When you switch the scanning options for the McAfee WebScanX version 3.1.2 program included with Internet Explorer Plus 4.0 between MAPI and cc:Mail, you may receive the following error message:
WebscanX

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If you then click Details, you may see the following error message:

WebscanX caused an invalid page fault in module kernel32.dll at 015f:bff7b9e6

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, upgrade WebScanX to version 3.1.6 or later. To do so, use either of the following methods:

  • Contact McAfee to receive an update disk. North American customers can contact McAfee Customer Care at 408-988-3832. International customers can contact McAfee Customer Care Amsterdam at +31 (0) 20 586 6100.
  • Download the upgrade from the following McAfee Web site:
    http://www.nai.com/regs/oemreg.asp (http://www.nai.com/regs/oemreg.asp)
    Use your Internet Explorer Plus 4.0 product ID for the password. No login ID is necessary.
Customers who install WebScanX from the Internet Explorer Plus 4.0 CD-ROM will be required by McAfee to provide a validation code to receive the update. The validation code is the product ID located in the Help About section of Internet Explorer Plus 4.0.
