BUG: Clicking Help Tab in HTML Help Workshop Causes Error

SYMPTOMS

When you open a new or existing help project file in the HTML Help Workshop and you click the Help tab, the following error message appears:
The window name "ProjectHelp" passed to HH_GET_WIN_TYPE has not been specified.
After the error message appears, the HTML Help Workshop does not respond to input and you must cancel it in the Task Manager.

CAUSE

This error is caused by the version 1.1b of hhctrl.ocx that is shipped with Visual Studio 6.0.

RESOLUTION

Use the HTML Help Workshop menu to open any new or existing help project files.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed this to be a bug in the Microsoft products listed at the beginning of this article. We are researching this bug and will post new information here in the Microsoft Knowledge Base as it becomes available.
