SYMPTOMS

Customers have been reporting "random crashing" with Visual InterDev 6.0. For example, one of the possible error messages is as follows:
DEVENV caused an invalid page fault in module MSVCRT.DLL at
015f:78001799

CAUSE

A bug in the VBScript.dll is one cause of this problem. There is a line in the VBScript.dll where a line continuation character (_) causes the internal color parser to hang when trying to determine what part of the text or line of code should be color coded.

RESOLUTION

The fix to the VBScript.dll crash can be obtained by loading version 5 of the script libraries. You can download the current versions of VBScript.dll from http://www.msdn.microsoft.com (http://www.msdn.microsoft.com) .

STATUS

This has been fixed.
