SUMMARY

This article describes the difference between the Faster and Better Internet Explorer Preferences.

MORE INFORMATION

To view these preferences, in Internet Explorer, click Preferences on the Edit menu, and then under Web Browser, click Web Content. Note that Better is the default setting.

Better:

Animated GIFS are dithered to the composite background if they have different color tables so that they look better when they are playing. Animated images may be dithered if necessary. Dithering is permitted on scaled images. Better makes very little difference for people who have monitors set to thousands or millions.

Faster:

Only images less than eight bits are dithered.

NOTE
  • Images are not dithered while they are being loaded.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.5 for Macintosh
