Description of Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1a

This article describes Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1a (SP1a).

Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1a includes version 4.79.2435 of the Microsoft virtual machine (Microsoft VM). This version of the Microsoft VM supports Java Native Interface (JNI).

If you install or reinstall Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 1 (SP1) from the Microsoft Web site, the version displayed when you click About Internet Explorer on the Help menu is ";SP1a." If you are already running Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1, you do not have to install Internet Explorer 4.01 SP1a to obtain JNI support. Instead, you can download version 2436 or 3165 of the Microsoft VM. These are standalone versions of the Microsoft VM. If your Microsoft VM version is later than 2436 and earlier than 3165, you should install Microsoft VM version 3165.
