SYMPTOMS

When you use FrontPage 2000 to apply a theme to a web that is using the FrontPage 98 or older server extensions, HTML files that are created by Office applications will use a theme the same way that HTML files created by FrontPage. This may prohibit you from reopening the file in the originating Office application without data loss.

CAUSE

The FrontPage 2000 server extensions contain special handling for files that were created by Office 2000 applications. This allows Office applications to reopen files that they generate, even after FrontPage has applied a theme to the web. This special handling is not provided by earlier versions of the FrontPage Server Extensions.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft FrontPage 2000 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft Word 2000 Standard Edition
  • Microsoft FrontPage 98 Standard Edition
