WD2000: Footnotes Are Not Displayed in Web Layout View

SYMPTOMS

When you view your Word document in Web layout view, footnotes contained in your document do not appear.

NOTE: To switch to Web layout view, click Web Layout on the View menu.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, view the footnotes in your document in your Web browser by doing one of the following:

  • Open the Word document in your Web browser.

    -or-

  • On the File menu in Word, click Web Page Preview.

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Web layout view is a view of your document as it appears in a Web browser. For example, the document appears as one long page (without page breaks), and text and tables wrap to fit within the window.

When you view your Word document in Web layout view, your document exhibits the same limitations as if you saved the document as a Web page.
