You receive a "Command line option syntax error" error message when you install Office 2000

SYMPTOMS

When you install Microsoft Office 2000, you may receive the following error message:
Command line option syntax error. Type Command /? for Help.

CAUSE

This error occurs when you install Office 2000 from a source that contains spaces in the path name. For example, if you install from a server named "\\myserver\Office 2000 Setup", you receive the error.

WORKAROUND

To work around this problem, modify the source path so that it does not contain any spaces.
