SYMPTOMS

When you install a 3Com USB ISDN TA modem, you are prompted to insert the Windows 98 CD-ROM. You then receive a "File not found" error message when Windows attempts to copy the following files:
  • Ccport.sys
  • Usbser.sys
  • Wdmmdmld.vxd

CAUSE

These files are not located on the Windows 98 CD-ROM or the Windows 98 Service Pack 1 (SP1) CD-ROM.

RESOLUTION

To resolve the issue, upgrade to Microsoft Windows 98 Second Edition.

MORE INFORMATION

The 3Com Web site incorrectly states that the files are available on the Windows 98 SP1 CD-ROM. However, the files are only located on the Windows 98 Second Edition CD-ROM.
